It’s the ideal place for a family or two families wanting to holiday together whilst still having their own space. It's the ideal base for day trips to the cultural treasures and retail pleasures of Rome, Florence and Siena. It's the perfect location for a relaxing retreat or for getting acquainted with the culture and charm of the surrounding area. Take an early flight and you could be there in time for afternoon tea on the terrace… but do remember to bring your favourite teabags!

About the locality

Acquapendente, a bustling market town, is five minutes drive. It offers a surprising mix of chic boutiques, restaurants and cafes, two theatres and a cinema – even a small hospital. The town is famous for its annual Pugnaloni, a May festival celebrating “freedom over oppression”. Enormous mosaics using flower petals depicting creative interpretations of the theme, each designed and produced by competing groups of townsfolk, and paraded through the town, culminating in a pageant of flag displays and the inevitable spontaneous fireworks in the evening. Watch the movie here. Curiously, Acquapendente has a direct link with Canterbury in England, for through its centre runs the Via Francigena which, via the Pilgrims Way links Canterbury and Rome and is of course very popular with walkers and cyclists.

Throughout the year cultural and food festivals of all kinds are held at Acquapendente and the other towns in the locality, so there’s often some lively entertainment to be enjoyed.

The surrounding countryside is varied with wooded hills and mountains, rocky ravines, plateaus and plains and the huge Lake Bolsena. Nearby fields rotate between sheep pasture, sunflowers, cereal and vegetable crops. And elsewhere olive groves and and vinyards of course!
